Haha! After our drawing sessions at the courthouse today our teacher took us out for margaritas and guacamole; this is the second time an illustration teacher at this school has fed us/bought us booze, art school is awesome.

TIL how differently my fellow illustration dept. people draw from the animation department. 8);; Submitted my gesture sketches from the summer, and while I’d get nailed for turning in something this “raw” to a client or illustration dept. class, my instructor noted how “clean” they were. I didn’t clean them up, we’re just trained to draw closer to finish! Our objectives are just different.

Hopefully this’ll just make my work more solid after this ends. Sorta dreading our three minute animation project towards the end, but let’s see what happens in a couple months.

(Oh, and if you’re interested in what texts we’re gonna use for this class, check out Nicolaides’ The Natural Way to Draw, the Vilppu Drawing Manual (Vilppu’s videos are awesome and I’ve studied them), and Walt Stanchfield’s Drawn to Life.)
